On February 29, 2012, the County Board of Supervisors granted our long-awaited Land Use Permit to build our new sanctuary. We are very grateful to the large number of neighbors who wrote to the County on our behalf and to all those who attended the Supervisors' hearings to show their support. To all of you, we offer heartfelt thanks.
This approval is the result of more than four years of work. The project has been thoroughly evaluated by County staff and a full Environmental Impact Report was conducted. The County Planning Commission held extensive public hearings and then approved the project. Following that approval, a group of area residents appealed the decision, and the Supervisors held two additional all-day hearings on the project before approving it with a vote of 4-0.
We are overjoyed to finally gain our Land Use Permit to build our new home for worship. We respect the fact that some neighbors opposed the project for numerous reasons. It is our hope that when our sanctuary is completed and the new trees and landscaping are mature, all our neighbors will find our new sanctuary and its open gardens a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
